SMLE bayonet

    We need a post to start us off, so here's my Pattern 1907 SMLE bayonet, picked up as part of a deal on an unmolested 1916 BSA No. I Mk. III*

    Some details- you can see from the pics it was made by Sanderson, in September of 1918, and it appears to have been in the Canadian navy, and the 2nd Rifle Battalion, Rifle Brigade, according to "smellie".

    In that last, you can see the heavy varathane coating the grip handles were given. I managed to remove all that, and tried valiantly to get it to soak up some 100% tung oil, but no joy.

    That blade is 17 inches of deterrence/crowd control. Very effective: it would scare the crap out of me...
